I was supposed to go to mall to do a little bit of shopping for myself on weekend. It was my plan but ‘til the last minute I decided not to go, and I just stayed at home instead. I can’t think of any excuses, I was just really feeling damn lazy that time. Since I was just at home and practically doing nothing, I was able to find more time watching TV which I missed for some period of time.
I was not able to watch the pilot episode of Amazing Race Asia last Thursday, but luckily, they replayed it on Saturday! The race consists of 2 Filipinos duo, 2 Malaysians duo, and 1 pair each from Hongkong, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and India. The race started here in KL Malaysia. Of course, the Malaysian teams dominated the race as they’re already familiar with the places here. But surprisingly, the Indonesians strategic moves made them the 1st team to arrive on the pit stop, followed by Filipino couple, then one of the Malaysian teams made it as 3rd, 4th is the Filipina lasses, then followed by the rest of the teams. The last team arrived in the pit stop was the gym-buff couple from Hongkong. They struggled to find the place for the third clue with led them to the last position ‘til end. Fortunately, it wasn’t the elimination day yet so they’re still on the race. However, being the last team to arrived, they will continue the race with no penny at hand. I am excited and can’t wait to see the succeeding episodes. I hope that one of the Filipino teams emerges the winner at the end of the race.
Last week was also the week for the World Pool Championship which was held in Manila, Philippines. It is an annual tournament for best billiards players all over the world. Among 128 participants, 21 were Filipinos, and the rest came from different part of the world. The Chinese Taipei contingents also dominated the tournament as the reigning and defending champion and runner-up from last year’s event came from their pool. Unfortunately, those Filipino legendary players and former champions like Reyes, Bustamante, and Pagulayan did not make it even to the quarter finals. They were beaten by other great players on the early stages of the competition. However, one Filipino in the name of Renato Alcano, showed the eagerness and heart of the true champion. He defeated Reyes, last year’s runner-up, and the defending champion along the way which brought him to the finals and was able to nail it down ‘til the end by defeating Ralph Socquet with an outstanding score of 17-10. Imagine those great players he went through each stages of the competition just to get the title, what a superb performance! Congratulations!
Also, I was able to watch the 4th and final round of HSBC Golf Tournament where most of the top rank players such as Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Goosen, and the likes participated. Shockingly, the Korean golfer, Yang, led the tournament with whopping score of -16, 3 points ahead of the second placer. Woods only settled for 3rd place though. I didn’t expect that someone unpopular will win the tournament. Well, it just simply proves that Asian players are now beginning to penetrate the sports scene.
A1 Grand Prix also happened this weekend somewhere in China. Team Italy, Great Britain, and Australia won as 1st, 2nd and 3rd placer respectively. My bet and favorite Malaysia didn’t make it to grab any title. But I am sure he’ll get one next race which will be held here in Malaysia sometime next month (if I am not mistaken).
This weekend, I was also watched the shows like Pimp my Ride, Punk’d, Made, America’s Next Top Model, MTV Cribs, Fear Factor, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, The World’s Most Amazing Videos, Maximum Exposure, and a lot more… =)
If you think that I just spent my weekend at home, hell NO!. My week doesn’t just all about slacking or watching T.V. I also went to Uly’s post-birthday celebration last Saturday night in their unit at Bistari Condo.
